私の好きな食べもの

私は食べものの中に日本のりょうりが一番好きです。日本のりょうりがぜんぶ好きです。たとえばおすしやおさしみやとんかつやそばが好きです。プリストンにたくさん日本のレストランがあります。

さくらエズプレスはいいレストランです。さくらエズプレスがウィタスプーンにあります。食べものはまあまあおいしいですが、古くて、大きいです。それから、オーナーはやさしいですよ。オーナーとはなするのはとてもたのしいです。

友すしもいいですよ。ナスサウにあります。食べものはふるくて、おいしいです。そして、オーナーはたいわん人だから、私のたいわん人の友だちとよくいきます。

一番好きなレストランはすしパレスです。すしパレスがケンシントンにあります。ビュッフェですから、しょっとたかいです。でも、食べものはとてもいいです。友だちとよくこのレストランにいきます。

PE Goal Statement

Specific goals for this semester:

Listening
- There are a number of pairs of kana that I can never tell apart by listening (for example, か and が, さ and ざ, し and ち, つ and す, etc). This problem should definitely be fixed.
- Learning more vocabulary would be useful.

Speaking
- I think my pronunciation is okay, but fluency is a big problem. This will need more practice.

Activities
- Go to office hours more often than last semester.
- Self-study the vocabulary.
- More speaking practice in general. Maybe at the language table or with Japanese colleagues.


A long term goal is to achieve the level of command and fluency that I can use Japanese in any daily life situation. Of course this will not be achieved by the end of this semester, but hopefully it will be somewhat closer.

PE3 Reflection

Reflection on PE3:

Speaking fast is now much better after shadowing some more materials including tongue-twisters. More practice will be needed to polish this up, but the progress so far is very satisfactory.


Reflection on the whole class:

Looking at the old blog entries I realized how much I have learned in this class in such a short time! The class was always fun. I am looking forward to 102 already!

ふゆ休み

私のふゆ休みはたおしかったです。

１２月２２日に　私は　友だちとあいに　ニューヨークにいきました。

友だちは　私と　タイでこうこうに　いきました。いま　ドイツの大学の大学いん生です。

私たちは　スタテンアイランドファリにいきました。ステチュオフリバーチィをみました。それから、ブルックリンブリッジに　さんぽうしました。

ニューヨークは　とてもにぎやかでした。たくさんひとがいました。サンタさんきるひとも　たくさんいました。

あにばんに、イストビレッジで　ばんごはんをたべました。レストランで　１時間ぐらいまちました。でも、ばんごはんはとてもおいしかったです。

１２月２５日に　私の先生のうちにいきました。学生が　６人いきました。先生のうちで　クリスマスをたべました。とてもおいしくて、よかったです。

あとに、プリントンで　たくさんべんきょうしまして、いそかしかったですが、りょうでゆっくりして、うれしかったです。

PE2 Reflection & PE3 Goal

PE2 Reflection
- The double consonant (especially double-s sound) that I found difficult last time is much better with practice. The key to this is to read ahead to know what sound is coming next.
- The anime watching part is going well. Too well in fact. Maybe I should get some real work done too.

PE3 Goal
- I realized from shadowing, that speaking fast can be quite difficult, especially for certain combinations of sounds. I will concentrate on this for PE3. I think shadowing tongue twister will help.
- Also I will keep watching anime, but will pay more attention to trying to analyze the language and see how much I can learn without reading subtitles.

Last week was fall break, and it was supposed to be nice and relaxing, until the hurricane Sandy hit us hard. And according to this picture my friend caught off google crisis, we were in the middle of the storm at one point! Thanks goodness everything recovered fast enough...
